Manly

The existing semi-detached house was in its original condition with little connection to the rear yard. The brief included 3 bedrooms, 2 living areas an upper level deck and great connection to the rear garden. The owners downsizing wanted a garden presence as much as possible.

Design Response

The design takes full advantage of the corner block, and its northern aspect. The northern facade facing the street becomes a focus in engaging passers by. A communal garden was added for the neighbourhood.  Gardens were a central focus of the design as well as providing a connection to the ocean via an upper level deck. The owners also requested for natural materials that would patina over time.
